SFT’s Innovative Education Model

Customizable, Relevant Education

What drove the creation of SFT—and continues to drive us as we evolve—is the reality that the youth in this country are in need of a new type of education suitable for the opportunities and challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s ever-changing world.

At SFT, we continually work to determine what our students need to learn and develop in themselves so they are prepared to thrive in the lives ahead of them once they leave us. We are continually implementing more effective and efficient ways for our students to achieve these learning outcomes during their time here.

Research and educational philosophy over the last half-century inform our understanding of psychology, neural development, and the learning process. We use the most up-to-date research and best practices from the field of education and beyond to ensure that our students master everything they need to succeed throughout their lives.

Students at SFT enjoy individualized learning plans, adult mentors, flexible teaching methods based on a range of learning styles, multi-age groupings when appropriate and beneficial, customizable schedules, an integrated curriculum, and numerous field trips and community service opportunities. Priority academic skill areas—problem solving, reading with comprehension, critical thinking and logic, research and writing, oral and multimedia communication, math and quantitative reasoning—are taken seriously, effectively mastered, and meaningfully assessed.
